DIAMFAB Project: a production site featuring an ISO 7 cleanroom and tertiary offices, dedicated to the manufacturing of semiconductor diamonds. Executed as a general contractor for all trades and delivered ahead of schedule.
High technical requirements
As the general contractor, VÊPRES oversaw the complete fit-out of the production site for DIAMFAB, an Isère-based startup spun off from the Néel Institute (CNRS Grenoble) and specializing in the manufacturing of semiconductor synthetic diamonds. Located in an existing building in Fontaine (Isère), the project involved the creation of a 150 m² turnkey ISO 7 cleanroom, entirely dedicated to the production of sensitive components.
The cleanroom meets particularly stringent technical requirements. It integrates specific extraction systems for acids and solvents, ATEX zones, and the distribution of special fluids essential for the production of semiconductor diamonds.
For DIAMFAB, the primary challenge was to establish an ultra-controlled environment, capable of eliminating all sources of contamination and ensuring the reliable performance of the components manufactured therein. The design and implementation of the facilities were executed with a high level of rigor, ensuring both personnel safety and environmental protection.
This new facility enables DIAMFAB to produce high-quality synthetic diamonds under optimal control and safety conditions, thereby strengthening its innovative position in the semiconductor sector.

The Strength of a General Contractor
Beyond the cleanroom, DIAMFAB entrusted VÊPRES with a comprehensive development program encompassing the entire building. The project notably includes 300 m² of tertiary office space, designed to support the startup's growth and foster synergy between research, industrialization, and support functions.
VÊPRES provided complete project management for the works, including site development and utilities, structural work, framework, joinery, electrical systems, and the coordinated integration of networks and special fluids. The scope also covered external works, comprising parking areas, fencing, and the integration of the high-voltage delivery station.
By ensuring the architectural and functional coherence of the site, VÊPRES mastered the interfaces between the cleanroom, technical premises, and workspaces. This operation illustrates the company's ability to manage complex projects, combining environments with high technological demands and efficient offices, while taking into account the constraints of an existing building.
