What are LUMIBIRD's Activities?

Philippe YVERNAULT : To provide a concise overview, LUMIBIRD specializes in laser sources. Its applications are exceptionally diverse, serving sectors such as defense, scientific research, and medical fields, among others. The group operates several production centers, both in France and internationally, including QUANTEL – TECHNOLOGIES, an entity dedicated to the development, design, and manufacturing of solid-state lasers and laser diodes.

In what context did you engage VÊPRES?

PY : LUMIBIRD – QUANTEL was previously located in Les Ulis (Essonne), and we were required to relocate our entire operations to Villejust. The new facility comprised existing office spaces and a technical area where all new construction was required.

What were the specific characteristics of this project?

PY : The specifications notably included the construction of a cleanroom designed for future reconfigurability, should the need arise. Consequently, a structural framework was erected to meet this requirement. This structure will allow for the relocation of partitions without affecting load-bearing elements, and it was also utilized for the indoor installation of air handling units.

Did the project involve any specific constraints?

PY : The timeframe itself… Eight months is a compressed duration for a project of this nature. To ensure its feasibility, initial site visits and preliminary studies were conducted in February, allowing VÊPRES to verify technical viability and propose a solution and costing. However, there was no competitive bidding process; we adjusted, negotiated, and occasionally simplified the order, but the trust established even before contractualization allowed us to save both time and capital.

In your Opinion, What are VÊPRES' Primary Strengths?

PY : I am highly satisfied with VÊPRES's performance regarding adherence to the schedule, the announced costs, the quality of work executed, and the selection of installation teams: everything was exceptionally professional, and communication was impeccable. The significant co-activity with another construction site, which is rarely straightforward, was managed effectively. The team is highly efficient, adept at anticipating contingencies, and also provides excellent, readily available after-sales service, which is greatly appreciated post-delivery.
