Road risk is the leading cause of workplace mortality, with nearly 500 deaths recorded annually. Each year, nearly 20,000 workplace accidents are road accidents. In total, 40% of bodily injury road accidents involve a user undertaking a professional journey (commute or mission). The average duration of sick leave for an accident related to professional travel is 77 days.

In the construction sector, road accidents are the second leading cause of serious and fatal accidents after falls from height, and the primary cause if commuting accidents (home-to-work journeys) are also considered, accounting for three-quarters of all accidents.

For VÊPRES, the implementation of a road safety policy not only addresses a major prevention objective to protect our employees but also serves as a genuine driver of performance by generating direct and indirect cost savings.

Thus, a morning was dedicated on September 27th to raise awareness among all employees regarding road safety and risk prevention. They participated in six workshops organized by the HR and QSE departments with the assistance of the La Prévention Routière association: driving simulator, impaired vision goggles course, alcohol impairment kit, speed awareness, the '7 errors vehicle' exercise, and a quiz.

Numerous messages and best practices were thus delivered in a positive atmosphere. The entire VÊPRES team extends its gratitude to Messrs. Broussy, Robert, and Saber (civic services) for the quality of the workshops and their facilitation.
